Tohru is a 16 year old orphaned girl who gets invited to live in the house of her classmate, the handsome boy Sohma Yuki, and his cousins, Kyo (16 yr. old) and Shigure (27 yr. old).
However, these young men and the rest of the family holds a curse; if they are hugged by the opposite gender, they transform into animals of the Chinese zodiac.
Everyday is an adventure for Tohru, as she gets to know the different members of the family in ordinary or strange situations. But the Sohma family curse is not a laughing matter... it also holds horrible cruelty and sadness.
